Having resided in Singapore for over a year, my fascination with HDB flats remains unwavering.
As I go about my routine, I find myself constantly drawn to the multifaceted artistry that lies hidden in plain sight. They can range from displaying materials with natural hues to attempting a deliberate endeavor to conceal all traces of a material’s inherent character, presenting tenants with immaculately painted surfaces.
The idea of observing this very ordinary, everyday behavior—such as people simply going about their daily business while passing by the many forms of underappreciated art—is very intriguing to me.

Consistency and uniformity are things that I always tried to achieve in every shot I took. The compact camera I used allowed me to get both considerably wide-angle shots and close-up shots with ease.
From the start, my approach to this project was to create a series of cheerful and colorful photographs that exaggerate the mundane scenes of normal life in HDB flats. Saturated colors, exposures that tend to be bright, and a bit of play in the color hues are some major aspects that I tinkered with to achieve the colors and mood that the finished products show.
